Wookie Royal Pythons for sale in the UK
The Wookie morph turns a royal python black to dark brown, keeps the gold alien heads small, and leaves the back almost clean. The gene sits in the Spider complex alongside Chocolate. Because a dark animal is hard to call by eye, a DNA test can confirm it.

About the Wookie gene
Wookie is a dark gene. It makes a royal python (ball python) look more black and deep brown while it cuts back the pattern. It also leaves small golden markings on a near-clean back. Breeders use it in combos to darken whatever it is paired with and cut back its pattern.
Appearance
Most of the body is covered in black to dark brown, and the dorsal is nearly clean. Golden alien heads are smaller than usual, with flame-like highlights running up between them on the sides. Blushing shows through the body. A faint headstamp is the only detail on the very dark brown head, while the tail follows the pattern of the rest of the snake. When paired with most members of the Blue Eyed Leucistic complex, Wookie produces a strong white fade running up the flanks from the belly.
Genetics
Wookie is an incomplete dominant gene that the hobby loosely files under "co-dom". A single-copy animal is called Wookie, while the two-copy version is known as Super Wookie. In 2022, Josh Jensen proved the super by producing an Acid Super Wookie. This gene is part of the Spider complex and is allelic with Spider, Champagne, Chocolate, Black Head, Cypress, Sable, Spotnose, Woma and Hidden Gene Woma. Although Wookie and Chocolate look alike in some combos, they are separate genes. Breeders treat an animal carrying one of each as a super-type allelic combination. A genetic test for Wookie exists, so ask the seller whether a dark animal that is hard to call by eye has been tested. The Herp Vault first produced it in 2013.
