This Privacy Policy explains how bask ("bask", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use our website and services. bask is a UK-based classified-advertising site for royal pythons (Python regius) and royal-python keeping equipment. We are the data controller for that information.

We only accept members aged 18 or over, and the service is intended for use in Great Britain.

Who we are and how to contact us

bask is operated by Bask Market Ltd (trading as bask), based in Great Britain. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller, registration number ZC250792. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, email us at admin@baskmarket.co.uk.

The information we collect

Account details — your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number and postal address or region.
Store and listing content — your store name and profile, the adverts you create, and the photos you upload.
Messages and interactions — the private messages you exchange with other users, the reviews and public questions you post, and any feedback you send us.
Sign-in data — if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email) from that provider.
Technical data — information your browser sends automatically, such as your IP address and device/browser type, and essential cookies (see our Cookie Policy).

We do not knowingly collect special-category ("sensitive") personal data, and we do not buy personal data about you from third parties.

How we use your information, and our lawful bases

To provide the service (create your account, publish your listings, deliver your messages) — lawful basis: performance of a contract.
To keep the platform safe and lawful (prevent fraud and abuse, moderate content, meet our legal duties) — lawful basis: legitimate interests and legal obligation.
To send you service notifications (for example, a new message or a reply) — lawful basis: legitimate interests; you can turn notifications off in your account.
For any optional marketing emails — lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run bask, under contract and only as needed: our hosting and database provider (Microsoft Azure), our security and content-delivery provider (Cloudflare), and an email-delivery provider used to send notifications. Other users see only what you choose to publish (your store, listings, reviews and public questions) and the messages you send them. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Where your data is held

bask is hosted on servers located in the European Economic Area (France). Transfers of personal data from the UK to the EEA are covered by the UK Government's data-adequacy decision, so your information receives an equivalent level of protection.

How long we keep it

Account and profile data — while your account is open, and for up to 12 months after you close it, then deleted or anonymised.
Listings — while live, and for a short period afterwards for your records and dispute handling.
Private messages, reviews and questions — while the related accounts remain open.
Security and technical logs — for up to 12 months.

Your rights

Under UK data-protection law you have the right to:

access the personal data we hold about you;
have inaccurate data corrected;
have your data erased ("right to be forgotten");
restrict or object to how we process it;
data portability; and
withdraw any consent you have given.

To exercise any of these, email admin@baskmarket.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data-protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to help first.

Children

bask is an 18+ service and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from under-18s.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the date below.
