Trick / Blitz / Hurricane Royal Pythons for sale in the UK
Trick twists a royal python's alien heads into crowded swirls and runs heavy flaming up the sides. On its own it is busy rather than dramatic, so it earns its place in combos, and a shed test settles any animal the pattern leaves in doubt.

About the Trick gene
The Trick gene is a pattern gene. When found in a royal python (ball python), it adds dark pigment and scrambles the alien heads into shapes that are often swirling and distorted. There is plenty of flaming between these shapes. Rather than being dramatic, a single Trick is busy. It earns its keep in combos where it reshapes the pattern of whatever it is paired with.
Appearance
The head shows a dark colour ranging from chocolate brown to nearly black. Across the body, the alien heads are crowded and misshapen. These often twist into swirls where the dark spots inside grow into large eyes. Between the markings, flaming climbs the flanks and dark blushing follows the black puzzle pattern. A normal has less dark pigment than this animal. The tail repeats the pattern of the body.
The two-copy animal, Super Trick, goes further. Because it has two copies, the swirling is heavier than on a single-gene animal and the alien heads sit closer together.
Genetics
The hobby still loosely calls Trick "co-dom", though it is actually incomplete dominant. The family includes Trick and Super Trick. A genetic test exists for the gene. Shed testing matched Hurricane to Trick, and the hobby treats Blitz as the same morph, so listings for Hurricane, Super Hurricane, Blitz and Super Blitz are this gene under other names. The Hurricane-line super is known as Hayabusa. Named combos include Chetah (Trick Pinstripe), Bazinga (Trick Mojave) and Picasso (Trick Lesser). Gary Liesen proved the gene out in 2006 from his Black Pastel line.
