Red Stripe Royal Pythons for sale in the UK
The pattern becomes thinner toward a stripe along the back as Red Stripe turns the colour into a burnt, rusty orange. Because it is easy to miss on its own, Red Stripe earns its keep in combos. In these, it sits behind Magma, Pompeii and Red Devil.

About the Red Stripe gene
The royal python (ball python) features the Red Stripe gene, which is a colour and pattern gene. This gene shifts the ground colour to a burnt orange that is rusty and reduces the pattern by pulling it towards a stripe along the spine. While it is quiet as a single gene, its reputation comes from combos. In these combos, it is the gene behind Red Devil, Pompeii and Magma.
Appearance
At first glance, a single-gene Red Stripe looks like a normal. Its pattern is reduced and usually looks like a stripe along the back. The rusty orange and brown colours replace the golds and yellows of a normal. The body and tail share the same colour, while the head is a light tan that fades toward the neck. Because the effect is subtle, it is one of the harder genes to call by eye in a busy multi-gene animal. Super Red Stripe pushes every part of that further. The orange is deeper and the pattern is more reduced.
Genetics
Red Stripe is an incomplete dominant trait, often grouped under "co-dom", the looser word used in the hobby. A single copy results in Red Stripe while two copies produce Super Red Stripe, which has a visible difference. It stays in no complex and has no known allelic partners. You might see the name written as one word, Redstripe. Outback Reptiles provided the gene.
Some combos have their own names. Magma is Red Stripe Clown. Red Devil is Super Red Stripe Genetic Stripe. Pompeii is Red Stripe Black Pastel Spotnose Yellow Belly Clown. Because these are multi-gene animals, a listing uses the tags for the genes that make them up.
