Orange Dream Royal Pythons for sale in the UK
Orange Dream swaps a normal royal python's browns for gold and bright orange and cleans up the pattern, and two copies push it further still. It layers well with almost any other gene, which is why it appears in so many combo names.

About the Orange Dream gene
The Orange Dream is an incomplete dominant gene. It moves a royal python (ball python) toward a higher-contrast pattern that is cleaner and more gold and bright orange. Because it does not muddy other genes when layered, keepers choose it more for how it cleans up and brightens a combo than for the single-gene animal by itself.
Appearance
The Orange Dream single-copy keeps the alien-head pattern of a normal but removes most of the spotting inside it to leave clean blotches on a jet black background. You can still see the normal eye stripes, and the head has a crown that is orange or golden with blushing toward the neck. The tail follows the colour and pattern of the body, while the belly is usually a pearly white with little or no marking. Because intensity varies a great deal between animals, some show a subtle lift over a normal while others have pattern reduction heavy enough to be mistaken for Enchi. High Intensity Orange Dream is a marketing name for the same single gene, used for selectively bred, especially bright single-copy lines. It does not mean the animal has a second copy. A Super Orange Dream consists of two copies, with the colour and pattern reduction pushed further still. Even so, some single-copy animals are so bright they look close enough to a genuine two-copy animal that Ozzy Boids himself sold some intensely bred single-gene animals as Super Orange Dream before recognising the difference.
Genetics
While many in the hobby call this co-dominant, it is actually incomplete dominant. One copy of the gene makes an Orange Dream and two make the visually different Super Orange Dream. This gene has no known hets and sits in no allelic complex. Named combos are the Triton (Enchi, Fire, Orange Dream and Pastel) and the Black Nightmare (Black Pastel and Orange Dream). In 2004, Amad Osman produced the first Orange Dreams under his Ozzy Boids brand from a captive-hatched female and a het Albino male.
