Genetic Stripe Royal Pythons for sale in the UK
A royal python with the Genetic Stripe gene has one light stripe down its spine with dark edges, while the alien heads and side banding are removed. Because a het looks like a normal, you should confirm one with a genetic test before you buy.

About the Genetic Stripe gene
Both the colour and pattern of a royal python (ball python) are changed by the Genetic Stripe. A single stripe along the back replaces the busy blotched pattern of a normal.
Appearance
A thick, light dorsal stripe of gold to yellow runs the whole length of the body and tail to show the gene's mark. There is a thinner black or dark brown stripe on each side, so the back shows three lines. On the sides, the banding and alien heads of a normal are gone, leaving them clean or close to patternless. The belly is unmarked. The stripe varies between animals. It is one unbroken line on some, while on others it breaks into several pieces. The amount of pattern left on the sides varies with it. The head looks much like a normal's, but with a greyer, earthier tone and less black.
Genetics
Because Genetic Stripe is recessive, a super form does not exist. Animals that are Het Genetic Stripe, 50% Het Genetic Stripe, 66% Het Genetic Stripe and Pos Het Genetic Stripe all look like normals. A genetic test for the gene is available. The trade shortens the morph to G-Stripe, though older writing calls it Striped. One named combo built on it is Baja (Genetic Stripe, Enchi and Lesser). Bob Clark acquired one imported male in 1989 from which every Genetic Stripe traces back. The first visuals were produced in 1999 by Bob Clark Reptiles.
