Cypress Royal Pythons for sale in the UK
The Cypress gene changes the yellow in a royal python to chocolate brown and orange. It also pulls the pattern into a stripe along the back. Because a DNA test exists for the gene, a result can be labelled rather than a photo. It is grouped with Spider in the same complex.

About the Cypress gene
The royal python (ball python) has a pattern and colour gene called Cypress. This gene replaces the yellow of a normal with chocolate brown and orange. It also pushes the back towards a stripe and reshapes the pattern on the side.
Appearance
While yellow and orange appear in a normal royal python, the Cypress displays chocolate-brown and orange tones. A prominent dorsal stripe is common on the back, and it runs the full length on some animals. Large alien heads dominate the pattern down the sides, and these usually hold keyholes instead of the usual eyes. The head is light brown and fades towards the neck, while the tail has the same colouring as the body.
Genetics
The Cypress gene is incomplete dominant and remains filed as "co-dom" by the hobby. A two-copy form is sold as Super Cypress while a single-copy animal is sold as Cypress. It belongs in the Spider complex with Wookie, Spotnose, Hidden Gene Woma, Chocolate, Champagne, Black Head, Spider, Woma and itself. A genetic test exists for it. Outback Reptiles first produced it in 2012.
