Arroyo Royal Pythons for sale in the UK
Arroyo pulls a royal python's alien heads out of shape into broken gold rings, and gives the body a striped, streaky look with heavier flaming down the sides. Check whether an animal carries one copy or two before you buy, because the two-copy form sells under a name of its own.

About the Arroyo gene
The Arroyo gene affects the pattern. When it appears in a royal python (ball python), it distorts the alien heads. It also gives the body a look that is more striped and streakier, with deeper flaming along the flanks.
Appearance
The tail shares the same pattern as the rest of the snake. Because the alien heads are much reduced in size compared with a normal royal python, the flaming runs deeper and the overall effect reads as striped. These alien heads stretch into ring shapes to leave misshapen gold hoops that run the full length of the body. The head is usually light tan with a paler, star-shaped headstamp, although not every animal shows it.
Genetics
The Arroyo is an incomplete dominant gene, which the hobby still loosely calls "co-dom". A Super Arroyo, known in the hobby as Rio, results from two copies of the gene. This is why an Arroyo with a single gene can be advertised as a het Rio. The label counts one copy of an incomplete dominant gene and does not mean a hidden recessive is riding along. Dan Wolfe proved the gene out in 2010.
