About the Tangerine Tornado gene
The Tangerine Tornado is a leopard gecko from a line-bred selection made to find the most consistent and deepest red in an orange animal. Craig Stewart of The Urban Reptile in Canada pulled the first animals that were unusually red from his own Tangerine bloodline. He kept selecting until the colour held from one generation to the next. A buyer pays for that consistency. It is red that stays red rather than settling back toward standard orange.
Appearance
A deep red-orange base covers the head and body of these adults. This red pigment is concentrated within the bands and moves into the lighter background between them. Most other tangerine lines are less red, but the best animals range from darker orange to near red.
Genetics
Because the Tangerine Tornado is a polygenic, selectively bred line, it has no single gene behind it. This means there is no het and no super form. Animals that have not been proven to the full line are sold as Pos Tangerine Tornado. This line comes from The Urban Reptile's own Tangerine bloodline. It was selected purely for a stronger red with no outcross to another named line.
