Electric Leopard Geckos
The Electric is a tangerine line bred for a bright, reddish orange, with more light orange than the Tangerine Tornado line and more aberrant markings than most tangerines. You buy one for the colour, so judge the orange on the gecko in front of you rather than the line name.
About the Electric gene
Breeders selectively bred the Electric tangerine leopard gecko to produce a saturated, bright orange. People buy this line for its colour. Two better-known tangerine projects that came after it have its blood running through them.
Appearance
A neon orange gecko is known as an Electric. The markings on this gecko are often more aberrant than those on a typical tangerine. It resembles the Tangerine Tornado line but an Electric usually has more light orange across the body. This is one of the lines from hypo tangerines where the red-orange stays bright until adulthood instead of washing out.
Genetics
Electric is a polygenic line of Tangerine rather than a single gene. Because of this, there is no super form and no het. You will find it listed as Electric and Pos Electric. It is also sold as Electric Tangerine or called the HISS line after Kelli Hammack of HISS, the breeder who developed it. Two lines with Electric blood are named. The Torrid, Tornado and Electric lines were mixed to build Inferno by Luxurious Leopards. In 2012, Matt Baronak started his Clown at SaSobek by crossing his G Project to high-contrast Electric tangerines.
