Tiger Hognoses

A Tiger western hognose has bands down its back where a normal carries rounded blotches, so it looks striped rather than spotted. Keepers buy it for that look, and listings use the names Tiger and Pos Tiger.

About the Tiger gene

Tiger is a pattern morph in the western hognose snake (Heterodon nasicus). Keepers buy it for the striped look.

Appearance

A normal western hognose has rounded blotches along its back. A Tiger has bands instead, so it looks striped rather than spotted, and the banding is what identifies the morph.

Genetics

Tiger is polygenic. Twinspot, Woma and Granite are polygenic hognose traits too. Listings use Tiger and Pos Tiger.
