White Tip Crested Geckos
The crests on a White Tip crested gecko are off-white to white instead of matching the head as they usually do. Because the amount can range from a few scales to the whole crest, you should judge the animal in front of you instead of the name on the listing.
About the White Tip gene
The White Tip morph describes the colour of the crests on a crested gecko. While the crests match the rest of the head on most animals, they are off-white to white on a White Tip. This means the crest line stands apart from the head behind it.
Appearance
Because the trait is a difference in two colours, it looks best on a head that is not pale. The amount of the crest that carries it changes from gecko to gecko. On some, the whole crest is tipped, while only a few crest scales show the off-white on others. Orange Tip is the other common tip colour and it is listed as its own trait.
Genetics
Because White Tip is polygenic, a super form does not exist. Listings are made for White Tip and Pos White Tip. Tipped Crests has a specific listing for crests where the tip colour is not specified. This trait relates only to the crests and is separate from body-colour whites like White Wall and Lilly White.
