Red Spot Crested Geckos for sale in the UK
A red spot crested gecko is a dalmatian whose spots are red, usually mixed in with black ones. Because spotting builds as a hatchling grows and can fade when the gecko fires down, you should judge the spots on a grown animal that is fired up.

About the Red Spot gene
A red spot crested gecko has red spots that appear either alongside or in place of the normal black ones. Because black is the most common colour for spots and red is second, any animal with clear red spotting looks different from normal dalmatians. This trait often appears on hypo and red animals.
Appearance
Spots appear on the body of the gecko regardless of its pattern or base colour. They can be found anywhere. Black spots are carried by most red spot animals. These spots range in size from a grain of salt to a pea. Because spot colour tends to follow base colour, red and hypo animals, red hypos most of all, produce red spots more often than others. A young animal's spotting is not its final count because hatchlings often show only a few spots and gain more as they grow. Look at an animal fired up before you judge how much red it carries, as the pigment sits in layers that shift with its colour and spots can also drop out of sight when a gecko fires down. A red centre inside a black spot is something else, sold as Bullseye.
Genetics
Listings use Red Spot and Pos Red Spot. Dalmatian spotting is a dominant trait where one copy or two makes little difference. It is not settled if the red colour is its own gene. These red spots, ink spots and bullseye spots might interact with or be genetically distinct from ordinary dalmatian spotting. Dalmatian, Super Dalmatian, Ink Spot, Oil Spot, Cluster Spots and Bullseye are the related spot morphs. Animals from Altitude Exotics with red spots among the black belong to a named line called Confetti.
