About the Pastel Dream gene
Several named pastel lines are bred side by side in the boa constrictor trade, and Pastel Dream is one of them. Rather than a single identified gene, each line is valued for its washed-out look and reduced black pigment. Because of this, a keeper buying one is buying into the reputation of the line more than into one mutation. There is no super form for Pastel Dream.
Genetics
Two names are used to sell this line. Pastel Dream is for a known animal, while Pos Pastel Dream is for an animal from Pastel Dream stock where the look is possible but not yet confirmed. Other named boa pastel lines follow a pattern of one name, a Pos counterpart, and no super: Kubsch Pastel, Kubsch Red Pastel, Cherry Pastel, Ferrari Pastel, Flamingo Pastel, RC Pastel, Redrum Pastel and Summit Pastel. Rather than being built on one identified gene, pastel-type boa lines are generally bred by selecting for reduced black pigment. The wash that results varies from line to line.
