Butter Ball Pythons For Sale in the UK

A single-copy Butter shows soft yellow markings over a warm caramel-brown body, with the dark colours washed out to a softer brown than a normal ball python carries. Two copies make the super form, Super Butter: a Blue-Eyed Leucistic, the white, blue-eyed animal the hobby calls a BEL. The mode is incomplete dominant, which most keepers shorten to co-dom.

Butter and Lesser are one morph in hobby practice: traded and bred interchangeably under either name, and visually inseparable. Recent RGI genetic testing showed they are two distinct genes sharing one locus, so an untested animal sold as Butter may be a Lesser, and the reverse. Butter sits in the BEL complex alongside Lesser, Mojave, Phantom, Mystic and Russo, all separate genes at that same locus.

Super Butter is linked to eye deformities, including bug eyes - a protrusion of the eye. The concern attaches to the super form, not to a single-copy Butter. Severity varies between individuals - please research the morph and ask the seller about this specific animal before buying.
