About the Genetic Stripe gene

Genetic Stripe affects both colour and pattern, and shows as a prominent dorsal stripe down the whole back. How complete the stripe is varies: some animals carry it unbroken from neck to tail, others show it as a run of separate blotches.

The gene is recessive, so an animal that is not visual looks like a normal ball python. Listings run Genetic Stripe, Het Genetic Stripe, 50% Het Genetic Stripe, 66% Het Genetic Stripe and Pos Het Genetic Stripe, and it is often shortened to G-Stripe or Gs.

A genetic test for Genetic Stripe is available; on any het or possible het animal, that is worth raising with the seller.

It carries into a number of named combos: Baja, Hornet, Killer Hornet, Motley Bee and Red Devil.
